Intricate & Delicate: The Beauty of Young Love
Life and love when you’re young can be so bright and vibrant. You feel like you’re on top of the world and the other person you’re interested in is just absolutely the most intriguing human you have ever met. However, even as a teenager, being in love is not without its flaws. There’s mystery in discovering the person, the difficulties of their past and circumstances that are sometimes beyond your control. In this project, I took three novels by author, John Green, with this similar theme and designed book jackets in a similar style.
rose colored glasses
For this project, I used paper illustration to highlight the colorful aspect of looking through the rose colored glass as a young person in love. The fragility of the paper alludes to the fact that while they have all the energy and confidence in the world as youth, they're also susceptible to break at any moment. The type acts as a metaphorical window into the soul that reveals the depth of the underlying issues that cause each of these love stories to take an interesting turn. Like the somewhat hidden illustrations, each of the main characters knows that there is something more than what the other is letting on.
The fault in our stars
One of the deliverables included was a small brochure that gives an overview of the shopping center and what it has to offer. Sure you can go to any retailer out there and get your groceries, but you can't take a nap there on your lunch break.
